Miami, Arizona was copper country, and when the Miners joined the Arizona State League in 1928, they carried that blue-collar grit onto the diamond. Small mining towns across the Southwest fielded teams that meant everything to communities built on hard labor. Baseball gave those miners something to cheer for beyond the next shift. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
A vintage cartoon miner mascot in a prospector hat swings a baseball bat, rendered in golden-tan and dark brown ink. Arched block text reads "MIAMI" above large cursive script reading "Miners" with a swooping tail underline, flanked by "ARIZONA STATE LEAGUE." Below, serif and block text reads "EST. 1928" and "MIAMI, ARIZONA."
